#2020sTuesdays - I wasn’t reviewing much over the past couple of years, so I’m going to take some time on Tuesdays to swoon over books I read and loved in 2020 and 2021.
Did you catch this lovely, heart-wrenching, beautiful debut? If not, I highly recommend you find MEET ME IN PARADISE and give it a peek.
There’s a lot of beauty and wisdom in this book. There’s also heart-break, emotional break-throughs, aching romanticism and moments of humor and grace. There are also a number of unexpected twists and a couple of bombshell moments that elevate the book from interesting to captivating.
Overall, this was a stunning, poised debut that manages to be both deeply entertaining and emotionally astonishing.
Honestly, a book worth reading and an author worth keeping an eye on.
Happy reading! xoxo

MEET ME IN PARADISE
Marin Cole has never:
Seen the ocean
Climbed a mountain
Taken a risk on love
....But if her sister's plan works, she just might do all three.
Ever since her journalist mother died on assignment, Marin has played it safe, refusing to set foot outside the state of Tennessee. Her wild-child younger sister, Sadie, has trotted the globe as a photographer, living off of art and adrenaline.
When Sadie returns from a tough assignment abroad and looks a little worse for wear, Marin reluctantly agrees to a sisters' spa weekend on the tropical island of Saba. But her lifelong fear of travel is affirmed when Sadie misses the flight, Marin's luggage gets mixed up with another passenger's, and an episode of turbulence sends her hurtling into the lap of Lucas Tsai, the handsome stranger who stole her sister's seat.
For the first time in a long time, Marin has to step outside of her comfort zone as she explores the island with Lucas and learns what she's been missing out on. With each breathtaking new experience, Marin gets closer to her real self, the man she’s falling for, and the heart-wrenching truth about why she’s there in the first place.

About Bobbi Dumas
Hi!
I’m Bobbi and I read, review, blog about and advocate for fiction written by women. I’ve written for NPR, Barnes & Noble and The New York Times Book Review, and wrote over 600 reviews for Kirkus and also penned the weekly Kirkus Romance (and Women’s Fiction) blog for a few years before parting ways with them in 2020. I believe that romance novels are (mostly) by women, for women, about women and of interest to women, and offer more hope, female agency and positive change than any other literary genre.
Women write great books, yet typically get less respect (and less review ink) than men do. While I do occasionally read books by men, I try to spotlight books by women and hold them up for the attention and appreciation they deserve.
I hope you’ll follow this space and find great new books to dive into.
Let’s read! xoxo
