Act Like It / (*anything by) Lucy Parker
1,001 Days of Awesome Reads - Day 203 - #FanGirlFriday
On Fridays I’m mostly focusing on authors who’ve been around for a while and who have given me real reasons to be a #FanGirl.
Oh my goodness, if you haven’t discovered this WONDERFUL author, please go do that right now.
Lucy Parker is a queen of contemporary romance. Her sparkling blend of smart, sexy, entertaining banter and fascinating characters generally at odds with each other (at least to start) is mesmerizing and practically impossible to put down. Her plots are cracking and the chemistry between her characters is electric, and she manages to be consummately amusing and poignant in perfect measure.
ACT LIKE IT is the first book in her luminous London Celebrities series. I love them all so, so much, but the first two—ACT LIKE IT and PRETTY FACE—are probably my favorites. (It’s also fun to see cameos of the previous books’ characters in the later titles.)
Cannot recommend these highly enough, and I’ve yet to meet someone (at least a romance fan) who’s read one of these books and wasn’t impressed.
I’m also including the current cover (above), as well as the original (below), because they’re both fab in very different ways.
Thanks, Lucy Parker, for these wonderful, sigh-worthy books!
Happy reading! xoxo

ACT LIKE IT
Richard Troy used to be the hottest actor in London, but the only thing firing up lately is his temper. We all love to love a bad boy, but Richard’s antics have made him Enemy Number One, breaking the hearts of fans across the city.
Have the tides turned? Has English rose Lainie Graham made him into a new man?
Sources say the mismatched pair has been spotted at multiple events, arm in arm and hip to hip. From fits of jealousy to longing looks and heated whispers, onlookers are stunned by this blooming romance.
Could the rumors be right? Could this unlikely romance be the real thing? Or are these gifted stage actors playing us all?

About Bobbi Dumas
Hi! I’m Bobbi and I read, review, blog about and advocate for fiction written by women. I’ve written for NPR, Barnes & Noble and The New York Times Book Review, and wrote over 600 reviews for Kirkus and also penned the weekly Kirkus Romance (and Women’s Fiction) blog for a few years before parting ways with them in 2020. I believe that romance novels are (mostly) by women, for women, about women and of interest to women, and offer more hope, female agency and positive change than any other literary genre.
Women write great books, yet typically get less respect (and less review ink) than men do. While I do occasionally read books by men, I try to spotlight books by women and hold them up for the attention and appreciation they deserve.
I hope you’ll follow this space and find great new books to dive into.
Let’s read! xoxo
